iPads in Science (K-12)
Engage with apps for the science classroom and see how to investigate, collect data, present findings and participate in real-life science investigations all through the power of mobile apps. This poster session will take a look at apps that work best in the science classroom from a science perspective. Using the Scientific Method and the ISTE Standards as a guide, we will examine apps that bring each step of the process to life for students. See how to use the iPad as the complete research tool it can be as well as how to use it in the classroom.

I will be sharing Apps for Digital Storytelling in the classroom. Examples of portable green screens and accessories will be on display. There will be project ideas and resources all on a wiki for attendees to refer back to. I will have examples of student projects and will also share about a PD session that I created on Digital Storytelling. Bring traditional storytelling alive and tap students' creativity and imaginations!

A colleague and I presented a summer session for WSSD teachers this summer and developed a website of using/managing iPads in the classroom for teachers to use during the session and throughout the year. I would be presenting the training session outline and website we created to get teachers new to iPads acclimated with using iPads in the classroom for a one day session. http://wssdtech.weebly.com/ipads.html

The robots Dash and Dot from Wonder Workshop help students learn how to program in fun, interactive ways. With the free iPad apps, they can program Dash and Dot to go through mazes, put on plays wearing costumes, or to play songs on the xylophone.
